This is a rare antique Cambodian bronze Garuda candle holder altar statue.  It measures<br>18.5 cm (7 1/4 inches) tall from the base to the bowl top, and 8.7 cm (3.5 inches wide at the bowls. The bowls  are candle holders for the the altar. The statue itself is 15 cm (5 5/8 inches) tall x 4.5 cm (1 3/4 inches) thick at the tail, with a base of 3.8 cm (1 3/8 inches) tall and 4.5 cm (1 3/4 inches) square at the base bottom, and 3.3 cm (1 1/4 inch) square at the top of the base. It weighs 470 grams or 16.5 oz., and has an estimated age of between 300 and 400 years old (from1600-1700's).  Garuda has a mixture of human and bird features, and he is part of both Hindu and Buddhist culture.  In Hindu mythology, Garuda is the mount of Vishnu.  The owner acquired this statue many years ago at the Cambodian border, "when Pol Pot had started to lose his war, and people ran to the border with anything and everything for sale."<br>I have partnered with an American friend living in Thailand to make this and other collectible antique pieces available.  He has spent most of his adult life living and working in Nepal and Thailand, while also traveling frequently to Burma, India, and Cambodia, and has amassed an incredible collection of these and other hand made antique wares over the last 40+ years.  None of his relatives have any interest in the items, so he has asked me to help find them new homes with those who will appreciate their beauty, artistic value, and intricate workmanship.<br>PLEASE NOTE:  This item will be safely and securely shipped free of charge from Thailand by the owner via EMS (an average of 5-7 business days in transit).  The owner will also include the buyers choice of a beautiful hand made Burmese lacquerware tray (see photos).  The round trays are 6 inches in diameter, and the oval trays are 7.5 x 9 inches.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.  Thanks for shopping :)<br>
